Alan Segal has been a practising lawyer for over 30 years.

In November 2004 he established his own private practice, Segal & Associates based in Edgecliff in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. The practice has grown considerably over the last eight years largely due to it’s emphasis on a holistic, client-focussed approach.

Alan’s experience is extensive – he has worked in virtually every area of legal practice in a vast variety of situations, which puts him in a unique position to provide legal services and advice to clients with changing needs over long periods of time. His trust-based relationships are key. It’s not unusual for him to provide services such as the sale of a business to a commercial client and then go on to work with them on private matters such as probate, wills and residential property sales.

He is an accredited specialist in property law which often involves a variety of complex issues such as disputes, leasing, valuations, easement, sales and purchases ‘off the plan’ and matters involving owners corporations.

He has considerable experience in both civil and criminal litigation in the Local and District Courts, and the Supreme Court in particular, including the Court of Appeal and the High Court.

Alan’s philosophy is that he is there to guide people through transactions and resolve their issues before they develop further. He works hard to develop a personal rapport with clients and clearly understand their concerns and needs. He has participated in numerous mediations over the years which have successfully brought matters to a conclusion swiftly and with as little stress as possible.

Where client matters have progressed to court he has acted in most State and Federal courts in both civil and criminal jurisdictions, both as advocate and instructing solicitor. He has frequently been required to seek ex parte orders and a variety of interlocutory matters including injunctions and Anton Piller Orders. He has also provided expert reports and given evidence as an expert witness in relation to property matters.

Alan has long contributed to his local community. He has been involved with the Rotary Club at a senior level for over 30 years, with the NSW Chamber of Commerce, he’s a trustee with the Prince of Wales Hospital and has supported many other local organisations. His community work was officially recognised offshore merchant account through his nomination to be an Olympic Torch Bearer during the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
